ISTRIA TERRA MAGICA
The Peninsula of Istria is for sure Croatia’s best bike destination with a large number of cycling itineraries for all types of riding- road, MTB or treking. As one of our proposals, we point out the bike route along partly adjusted cycling trail of Parenzana. It is the route of the former railway linking Poreč and Trieste. Attractive tunnels and bridges are a treat for all cyclists.
We ride from Livada („Meadow“), a town known for its highly valued truffle habitat where we start climbing to the picturesque and beautiful old town of Motovun. An attractive bike trail leads us to Vižinada, one of the Istrian winegrowing centers. From Vižinada, we descend back to the valley of the river Mirna („Calm“) where we rise to the town of the artists and art – Grožnjan. Numerous painters’ galleries and open-air music workshops are ideal for short break before getting back on the Parenzana trail for downhill to Livada.
